Book 1 of the "Peoples of the Arden" series
When the Flemming family and their friends go on an end of summer camping trip in the Pacific Northwest, hoping to get a photo of Bigfoot they are suddenly transported to the land of Lindmeara. Lindmeara is a land of elves, dwarves, Kings and wizards. It is also land besieged by the Horde and King Talon believes that only the Flemmings can save them.
When the families realize they aren’t in Washington anymore they set out to explore their new surroundings. As they meet the inhabitants of Lindmeara they learn that their young daughters all possess magical abilities. They start to suspect that their girls are the reason they were brought there, and when they learn the truth, they have to decide if getting back to earth is more important than trying to help a people in desperate need.
If they decide to stay they will need to use all of their knowledge, weapons and skills to survive. Most importantly, their daughters will need to learn to use magic or neither they nor Lindmeara will survive.

There are a large number of books in the military, detective or fantasy genre, but this is the first I have read that has put them all together. What I enjoyed even more about this story was the use of weapons and tactics but leaving behind a positive message that violence and the killing of other sentient beings only as a last resort for defense and/or survival. I was extremely impressed. The character development was outstanding and I really enjoyed getting to know these characters.This is this story of three families, finding themselves sent through a portal to another time/dimension or place (it is not really explained which is great because the reader gets to decide)and taking on obstacles that could not have been overcome if not for the experience of the fathers whom were experienced military, special ops and police.
There are some typos and some grammar issues within this book and I am not sure if it is due to editing, or the transfer from print to eBook, but I was able to move past it due to the wonderful storytelling of this author. I also look forward to the possibility of another story with these characters or a completely different book by this author.

Jason has created a story that captures the heart of human nature. Do we help when asked or survive for our own selfish needs. I enjoyed reading to the end how the characters would work together in order to overcome adversity. A great read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It provides a great new twist on an old tale. The book is a real page turner and you will find yourself building a strong connection with the peoples of the Arden. This book is full of likeable characters which will relate to the young and the .. um.. not so young. Give this book a read. You won't be sorry.
Note to the author... Hurry up with that sequel!!!
This is a great book. At first it can be a little dull but over all a really great book!!
The book reminded me of the Terry Brooks book Magic Kingdom for Sale with a military theme. Besides a few proof reading issues the book reads well. There were a lot of charecters to build up and I'm looking forward to the second book.
